ADRIATIC SEA, BEAUTIFUL & CLEAN

The Croatian coast on the east side of the Adriatic Sea is defined by the coastal section of the Istrian Riviera in the north, the Kvarner Bay in central Croatia and the Makarska Riviera, a tourist highlight, in Split-Dalmatia.
The Croatian coast, which is generally karstic and known for its crystal-clear sea water, lies in a warm temperate climate zone. Off the indented coast, with its numerous romantic bays, there are more than 1,000 islands, of which only 67 are inhabited. The most popular vacation islands along the coast are Brijuni, Krk, Cres, Losinj, Rab, Pag, Dugi Otok, Kornati, Brac, Hvar, Korcula and Mljet. Cres is the largest island and slightly larger than Krk.
